Dear Diary Thursday...

Update on Cali....she is doing marvelous!

As I probably have discussed previously, in my job I am over the "jumbo" clients. What this is a client with 250 or more employees who also requires a lot of "hand holding'. My jumbo clients are all, actually, over 5000 employees and I do a LOT of hand holding to make them all run smoothly and be happy. Well, a coworker of mine is taking a new position so they are distributing all of her clients and I was "volunteered" to take on two of her carriers...the largest carriers we have so my workload had tripled....and that is not an exaggeration. I was actually just fine with this....until yesterday. I was on the phone from 6:30 am until I left at 3:00....AND NOT EVEN WITH MY CLIENTS! Apparently in this job, it is okay for other people NOT to be on the phones and to have their phones turned off...and the reason is because they are "overwhelmed" and too busy. I didn't think that it was an option NOT to do your job, but apparently it is in the workplace. I just don't understand. I finally had to turn my phone off, and walk away for lunch so I could get some sanity back. And today, I have already started off by telling my boss to "shut up" because he was making comments about me to a co-worker who doesn't know when he is kidding or telling the truth...just not in the mood for it today. I'm sure I will be spoken to about telling him to shut up, which I should be, and it will give me a chance to vent about the fact that very few people seem to be logged on to their phones and I am really sick of taking non-stop phone calls when the two people sitting next to me DID NOT TAKE ONE CALL ALL DAY!

Can I just say how much I am looking forward to this weekend?

Dear Diary Wednesday...

Yesterday I spent the afternoon and evening at Central Valley Animal Emergency with Cali. She came home late Monday afternoon (hiding because she didn't want to take her thyroid pill) with a massive hole in her back. Now, it sounds much worse than it looked. It was a patch about the size of a half-dollar of no hair, no skin, but no blood. It was not infected, it was not sore looking...just yucky. We put some Neosporin on it and decided to watch it for the evening. Yesterday, she had managed to lick all the Neosporin off AND make it sore and bleed....so it was time to go to the vet. When we got there, the vet took Cali to make sure she was "stable" and she was sooooo stable she was not even running a temperature. Her heart was beating a little faster than normal, but that is "normal" for cats with thyroid problems. They told us to come back in two hours and they would see what they could do. So, my Mom and I spent the next two hours at the King's English Bookstore, which my Mom has never been too....and she fell in love with it.

We went back to Central and the vet ended up numbing Cali's back, shaving her, "scrubbing" the wound to freshen it up, give her a shot of antibiotics, and then stapling it closed....8 huge ugly staples. There is no guarantee that it will actually close it, but it will help it along to closure. She gets to wear the beautiful ensemble for 14 days. That is all the good news. The bad news is that the vet validated my opinion....the wound was definetly "Human Made" as it was a perfect circle so it would have not been caused by another cat or dog (they would tear and there would be puncture wounds) and it not caused her by getting caught on something (also would be tear, not a cut). I have my suspicions of who did it and how they did it (trimmer) and if it is who I think it is, they will be stupid enough to mention it to my Mom by saying "So, how is your cat?" to which at that time they will have the police called on them, animal control investigators, and my lawyer. But the best news is that Cali will be okay now and she doesn't have to change any of her activities....she can be as insane as always.

Couple that night off with a week of non-stop drama at my work, it made for a long night last night and a wonderful headache this morning. My "friend" right now is coconut flavored coffee with creamer and Splenda (1/2 cup) to get me awake and maybe, help make the headache go away.

Did I mention Dylan is working OT again this week?????

Dear Diary Tuesday...

Cali came home with a HUGE patch of hair missing on her back last night, and what looks like a cut or something...no blood and it didn't hurt, but it is the oddest wound I have ever seen. We are not sure if she got caught on something and pulled out the fur and ripped her skin, or if somebody did something mean, but she has a vet appointment on Thursday to do some blood work and I am going to have them check the wound at that time as well.

EVE is the new cat name. She came out of the room this morning and ran all over the house....right up until she discovered that we have dogs. Then she puffed herself up and went back to her room to hide. The dogs didn't bother her and Helga really wanted to introduce herself, but that might take a little more time.

Dear Diary Monday...

We spent the weekend doing lots and lots of yardwork....and I am still not finished. I still have all of my plants to put in the ground, but the grass was mowed, weedwhacked, edged and the bushes have all been trimmed, the patio furniture is out, the dogs were washed....everything is starting to look MUCH better. Now if I can just find time to get the flowers in the ground.....AAARRRGGGHHH!

We also got to celebrate Dylan's Dad's birthday with going to dinner at Johnny Carinos on Saturday, which was a lot of fun. Dylan's folks absolutely loved my hair, so that made me feel better about it. We hung out for about 2 hours and then left to go to FYE so Dylan could pick up some music and then headed home for him to get ready for work.

Sunday, well, it was odd. I tried to be productive but just feel "bleh" all day. I finally jumped in the shower and got ready for Dylan to get up, which he got up REALLY early and we went to dinner....which did not set while on my tummy. Then we went to his great-grandmothers' to pick up her cat. Yes, we have ANOTHER cat. She is pure black, a bit on the "heavy" side, is 10 months old, and is TERRIFIED (or was at least last night) of absolutely everything. This morning she is more wanting of affection and definetly wants out of her "room". I am gonna give her a little time to adjust, as she has been in a house by herself for two months with very minimal contact with people. Name is not DEFINITE yet so I will keep you updated on that.
